Illustrated history by Siiri Taimla-Rannala

Kuressaare linnusmuuseum Sündmused Illustrated history by Siiri Taimla-Rannala

History isn’t dry as sawdust when you approach it correctly!

Siiri Taimla-Rannala’s unique drawing exhibition “Aegvalla” explores Estonian (and world) history through humor, visual art, and animation.

The exhibition is based on the book “History in Pictures” and the 8-part ETV history series “Estonian (Complete and Verified) History”, for which artist Siiri Taimla-Rannala created over 350 historical scenes. The exhibition also features a selection of animations created for the ETV history series “Estonian (Complete and Verified) History,” animated by Tanel Rannala.
The series has been recognized at the Estonian Film and Television Awards, including for Best Entertainment Program.

The art project is accompanied by a book created in collaboration with the Estonian National Museum, as well as an activity sheet, and an Estonia-shaped “cake” specifically designed for the Saaremaa exhibition – a sculptural object playfully depicting the division of lands. What else the exhibition holds in store remains a surprise.

The “Aegvalla” exhibition has previously been displayed at the New York Estonian House, the Riigikogu Art Hall, and Tallinn University, where it received a very positive reception. Now, the exhibition has arrived in Saaremaa!

Come and experience history in a completely new way – through laughter, images, and motion!
