Visitor info

We wish to offer the visitors of Kuressaare Castle Museum as pleasant a visit as possible, and therefore, we ask you to adhere to the following principles for the sake of safety and well-being:

  • Pay attention to the opening of the Castle doors and the stairs because, in the medieval castle, they do not always meet the contemporary requirements. Moving around in the castle takes place at the visitor’s own risk.
  • Be considerate of other visitors and what is happening in the building (excursion groups, educational programs, special events).
  • During outbreaks of diseases, please keep a greater distance from other visitors, disinfect your hands, and wear a mask if necessary.
  • Please leave larger items and bags in the wardrobe; we ask you to place them in lockers.
  • Overcoats can be left in the wardrobe if desired, but in colder weather, we recommend that you leave them on while staying in the castle.
  • Pets, except for service dogs, are not allowed in the Museum.
  • Please do not eat or drink (except for water) in exhibition halls or the shop.
  • Please sort the garbage and, if possible, throw it into the appropriate collection point.
  • Smoking is prohibited (including electronic cigarettes and vaping products) indoors, in the inner courtyard, gangway, and at the external entrance of the castle.
  • It is forbidden to enter the Museum in a visibly intoxicated state.
  • Responsibility for children (up to 12 years, incl.) during the visit lies with their parents or adult escorts.
  • It is not allowed to run in the exhibition halls or to climb on the exhibits.
  • Touching of exhibits and leaning on display cases is not allowed.
  • If you lose or find something in the Museum, go to the ticket office, and we will do our best to get the items to their owner.
  • Visitors with baby carriages and wheelchairs have a separate entrance at their disposal (NB! At this time, only the first floor is accessible). You can leave the baby carriage in the entrance hall of the disabled entrance.
  • We have a changing table and a potty for toddlers (in the disabled toilet).
  • When arriving at the Museum by bicycle, please leave the vehicle in the designated area outside the castle.
  • Taking photos and shooting films for personal use is allowed but without a tripod and flash. To take pictures for commercial purposes, you must ask permission from the Museum. When taking pictures, filming, or recording audio in the Museum, respect the privacy of other visitors.
  • Upon hearing the fire alarm, you must move immediately to the nearest exit and follow the evacuation instructions and the museum staff’s guidelines.
  • If visitors do not follow the principles of the Museum and disturb or endanger other visitors, Museum employees, and Museum property, they will be asked to leave. If you notice inappropriate behavior, feel free to report it to a Museum employee.
  • If possible, we ask you to evaluate your visit to the Museum either through the satisfaction questionnaire sheet or the guestbook located in the castle. If you wish to give longer feedback, please write to: linnus@samu.ee

Thank you!
